EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR - 2007
Windsor Learning Center will once again be offering an extended school
year program. Our program will run for six weeks beginning July 5th
and ending August 15, 2007.
Last year’s summer experience was a tremendous success. We
provided an emphasis on academics with many fun and interesting
activities for our students. This school year extension helps to
decrease the amount of regression that takes place during the summer
break. Social skills are developed and enhanced through a counseling
program that incorporates positive reinforcement, field trips and
various activities. In addition, our summer program benefits new
students by allowing a much easier transition for them in the new school
year.
The program will be a continuation of the existing school
year. School hours will be the same (8:30 – 2:20). IEP’s will be
addressed and the regular school year schedule including related
services will be followed. Tuition will be charged at the same per diem
rate that will be charged during the 2007-2008 school year. Students
attending Windsor School in West Milford are eligible for our summer
program.
We know that the issue of an extended school year must be
addressed on a case by case basis. We are more than willing to provide
the school district with any information we can to help in the decision
making process. However, please be aware the final decision rests with
the school district.
Enrollment is
limited. In order to make the process fair, we will need a letter
requesting placement for your students by no later than April 27, 2007.
A letter is required whether or not it is stated in a student’s IEP to
attend our extended school year program. We will then send a contract
that you will have 30 days to have signed and returned.
Please feel free to
contact Thomas Nolan, Principal at the above number if you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
Richard
